Micro Tunnelling

Micro-tunnelling is a method of trenchless construction in which holes are bored and pipes are laid through remote guidance. The micro-tunnelling boring machine (MTBM) is operated from a control panel, usually from the surface. The system simultaneously installs pipes as the ground is excavated and removed.

Insitu Pipelines has the capacity to install sewer pipes to grades up to a distance of 60m by means of micro tunnelling. Pipe sizes catered for range from 160mm to 600mm in diameter. Installation takes place from shaft to shaft, which are sunk in advance by a specialised team.
